Dairy Queen is marking MLB’s Opening Day on March 29 by releasing a special-edition Blizzard inspired by everyone’s favorite ballpark flavors.
The Triple Play Blizzard mixes soft-serve ice cream with caramel-coated peanuts, caramel popcorn brittle and chocolate chunks. It’s topped with crunchy pretzel rods and chocolate-drizzled caramel popcorn.
These special desserts will take some effort to catch.
They’re only available in the 15 cities that are home to the 15 baseball teams hosting games on Opening Day. Since the Arizona Diamondbacks are among the host teams, Phoenix will get the Triple Play Blizzards.
The fine print
- Only one Dairy Queen in each city will sell them. In Phoenix, the lucky store is near Baseline Road and 32nd Street. There’s a drive-through, just so you know.
- Treats, which are sold in only the small size for around $3.99, are only available while supplies last. The company predicts they’ll be around for only a day, maybe two.
This year’s Opening Day is especially significant, noted Maria Hokanson, executive vice president of marketing. In a statement, she said:
“This is the first time in 50 years that all 30 teams will open on the same day and we are celebrating as only DQ can, with a spectacular baseball-inspired treat created for fans cheering on their teams on Opening Day.”
Minneapolis-based Dairy Queen is a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., which is led by Warren Buffet.
